Mark (or anyone else in the know), could you add the source of "later identified as", so such a thing is available all in one place? Thanks --JVjr (talk) [10:03], 2 April 2022 (PDT)

So I see it has been mentioned in Rob Hansen's https://ansible.uk/Then/then_3-1.html , quoting Vector 10 (where however the "nominee" was not named). --JVjr (talk) 12:45, 2 April 2022 (PDT)

Also, apparently the affair has been mistakenly ante-dated to the 1959 Hugos here. Will remove the relevant paragraph from there when I have the time. --JVjr (talk) 12:45, 2 April 2022 (PDT)

I'd love to know who confirmed it! ---- mlo (talk) (talk) 10:55, 3 April 2022 (PDT)

Well, one could always ask Hansen… and he just might remember. Logically, someone who was present at the counting (or even the ballot-stuffing?!), and didn't feel the need to be so decorously tight-lipped some time later. However, who, when and where exactly, may well be lost in the mists of time now – it could have been some British word-of-the-mouth (might Dave Langford know something?). Googling for [Hugo Fanthorpe site:Fanac.org] doesn't seem to yield anything but another copy of Then. --JVjr (talk) 13:28, 3 April 2022 (PDT)

As far as I know there's no one left alive -- it's 60 years ago! -- who was anywhere near the 1960 Worldcon committee and damn few people who were even active then. See https://fancyclopedia.org/Most_Senior_Fan. Wally Weber probably was in those circles, but reports say that he's alive, but in no condition to answer questions.---- mlo (talk) (talk) 12:32, 4 April 2022 (PDT)
