The Speculation Conferences were a series of small, one-day symposia organised by Peter Weston and held in Birmingham, UK. Attendance was in the 50–100 range. There were featured speakers but no guests of honour as such.
Writing in Checkpoint 19 (July 3, 1972) about the third conference, Peter Roberts said:
I must say I enjoyed the conference and that seems to be a general feeling amongst those who attended. Pete [Weston], however, doubts whether the series will continue, since the growth of the Brum group and the start of the Novacons has lessened the need for such an event in Birmingham.
