The SF Writer's Bulletin (for later issues the Science Fiction Writer's Bulletin) was a publication produced by the BSFA from 1967 to 1971. It's remit is self-explanatory.

Under the heading "Success Story" the BSFA Bulletin 19 (September 1968) said:

A few months back, a rank-and-file member wrote in to the B.S.F.A. secretary (or somebody) with rather a good suggestion. At least, the recipient and (her) colleagues thought so. Furthermore, they knew precisely the person to put the suggestion into effect. Said person was agreeable, and the thing was promptly done. Followed an unfortunate delay due to bad timing - the last Vector for a couple of months was being mailed just as the good suggestion was going to press. However, everybody we have spoken to considers the B.S.F.A.’s very own Science Fiction Writer's Bulletin to be an extremely worthwhile production indeed (and why the hell wasn't it done years ago?).

With no mind to history the writer did not identify the initial editor and neither is a name specified in the Bulletin itself. Christopher Priest was definitely the editor from issue 3 and Dan Morgan from issue 5. In 1970 Morgan produced The SF Writer's Handbook, also for the BSFA. He said that "Christopher Priest edited the first four issues of [the Bulletin] ... from which the contents of this volume have been culled." So perhaps Priest was the inaugural editor.

In Vector 61 (September 1972) Morgan said:

The response to the last issue was a deadly hush apart from a letter from John Brunner — this despite my appeal therein for material. How can one run a forum for writers if the writers don't have anything to say? ... unless something drastic happens, I can't see there being another SF Writer's Bulletin. Pity, but there it is."
