(???? – )

Pearle Appleford was a fan from South Africa active in the 1950s and perhaps earlier or later. She was listed as the country's 'official representative' for Operation Fantast in 1953 and 1954. The 1953 Operation Fantast Handbook shows her:

... operating a small library of pocketbooks for the benefit of South African fans. These are supplied by O.F., and the only charge is for postage.

She is also listed as the South African representative for the Contact Bureau and the Greeting Group.

She had a letter published in Thrilling Wonder Stories (February 1950) about the difficulty of obtaining sf in South Africa because of import controls. She contributed a 'State of Science Fiction in South Africa' article to Space Times #7 (January 1953). She asked fans to pass on magazines when they'd finished with them:

... as I have a sort of magazine distribution service whereby I try to pass the mags round amongst the various fans. In the past we haven't done too badly, but any extra is always welcome.
