(???? – )

Michael Corper was a UK fan from Wembley in London active in the late 1940s and 1950s. He was mostly visible as the 'European Correspondent' of Fantasy Times from around #87 (August 1949), with contributions appearing until at least #285 December 1957. His 'Other Side of the Pond' columns were mostly concerned with news of books and magazines.

Oddly, he didn't seem to have much interaction with UK or even London fandom. He attended the Festivention of 1951, although only evidenced by his column in Fantasy Times #131 where me mentions meeting Lee Jacobs and Barbara and Ben Abas. He specifically sought out the latter as he also spoke Dutch.

It is likely, if perhaps not hugely relevant to Fancyclopedia, that some of his correspondence can be found in the archives of Camille Huysmans, the former prime minister of Belgium[1]. Huysmans certainly received letters from a Michael Corper of Wembley in the mid-1950s who noted that he was a F.I.L (perhaps Fellow of the Institute of Linguists) and member of the Society of Authors. A letter to Fantasy Times #268 (April 1957) also notes these qualifications.
