John A. Wiseman was a UK fan from Sidcup and later Chislehurst in Kent active in the 1940s and 1950s. He was a member of the Science Fantasy Society (SFS). Described in Science Fantasy News #3 as 'one of the younger generation of fans', he argued that:
I can't think why anyone should deem an SFS badge necessary – any fan would be far more conspicuous carrying a TWS – or, if he'd rather, an Astounding.
He had published letters in Science Fantasy Review (Gillings) and New Worlds. In #38 of the latter, he wrote:
You have published some very good stories recently – and some very, very bad ones. The serials are generally good. The shorts are too often bad, but one recent short which stood out high above the others in quality was 'Outside' by Aldiss. I hope you will cultivate this author[1].
He is listed in the Directory of Science Fiction Fandom for 1955 and intermittently thereafter.

- ↑ 'Outside' was Aldiss's third published story, published in #31 (January 1955).
