(????–)

Irene Boothroyd, a Yorkshire fan, was active in the 1950s and 1960s.

As a neofan she wrote to Vincent Clarke, then editor of Eye, saying how she hoped one day to see her name in print. Vin¢ obliged by using "******IRENE BOOTHROYD******" as a linear separator on the contents page of the next issue.

She appeared on a fan panel at Loncon II.

In 1967 she joined the BSFA at the same time as her brother, J. Trevor Payne; they were both listed at the same address in Huddersfield. She is listed as "Mrs. Irene Boothroyd", suggesting that her maiden name was likely Payne. She may have been the sister-in-law, or other relative, of Dorelle Boothroyd.
