Gilgames is short for Premios Gilgames de Narrativa Fantastica, the Spanish equivalent of the Locus Award.
The awards were created in 1984 in Spain by Alejo Cuervo, a Spanish fan, and named for the bookstore and newszine, Gilgames.
Like the Locus Award in the United States, the Gilgames Award is given each year in a variety of categories.
