David D. McGirr
(January 14, 1931 – October 12, 2012)
David D. McGirr was a fan from Haverhill, Massachusetts, New Orleans, LA and finally St Petersburg, Florida active from the 1940s until at least the 1970s. He was a member of the N3F and the Southern Fandom Confederation, and the United States Rocket Society.
He was a co-editor of Rick Sneary's Fanzine Readers Review #2 (Spring 1946).
The NFFF Membership List 1952 (TNFF Vol 11 #2, April–May 1952, p. 24) gave him as S/Sgt at Hq Sqdn, Air Weather Service, Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, DC.
The life dates are per the FamilySearch entry below – clearly Haverhill was his place of birth, to which McGirr returned after a spell in NOLA (see Phantasmagoria Mailing List), though he had moved to St Petersburg, Florida by the time of Tightbeam #18 (May 1979) where he was listed among "new members". He also died there.
