David Andrew Vanderwerf (aka DAVe), a Boston fan in the 1960s, was the leader of the ill-fated Boston in '67 Worldcon bid, the founder of the Boston Science Fiction Society, a founding member of NESFA, and the chair of Boskone 1 and Boskone 2. He edited two issues of Twilight Zine and seems to have been a member of MITSFS.
In 1968, along with Charlie Brown and Ed Meskys, he founded Locus (which eventually became SF’s trade journal) as a newszine to promote the Boston in 71 Worldcon bid.
He apparently gafiated in the late ’60s. Born in Minnesota, he studied at MIT and Boston University before pursuing a career as a software engineer.
