(October 16, 1912 – March 20, 2009)

Chester D. Cuthbert (né Manchester Dudley Cuthbert), a Winnipeg fan, is believed to have owned the largest science fiction collection in Canada. He organized the Winnipeg SF Society in 1950 and was president of the CSFA in 1951.

Cuthbert also published two stories, with his debut story, "The Sublime Vigil," appearing in the February 1934 issue of Wonder Stories and his second appearing in the July issue of the same magazine.

His son is fan Ray Cuthbert.

Chester D. Cuthbert Collection[edit]

Shortly before his death, Cuthbert’s SF collection was donated to the University of Alberta. It includes a large collection of books covering SF, fantasy, general fiction, and psychic phenomena, with special interest focused on writers such as Max Brand and A. Merritt.

In addition, reams of correspondence and hundreds of fanzines are included.

The Collection is held at the University of Alberta, Canada. The school received 2,142 boxes weighing around 45 tons. Some of his fanzine collection is at Texas A & M University.
