Bristol is a city in the west of England.

Early Bristol fans include G. H. Brewer, B. H. Edwards and Allan H. Miles in the 1940s.

When Archie Mercer moved to Bristol in the early 1960s he found few fans but the arrival of Simone and Tony Walsh was sufficient to kickstart the Bristol and District SF Club (BaD) in 1965. The group ran the first Bristol convention, Briscon, the 1967 Eastercon. The city also hosted OMPAcon '73, the 1973 Eastercon. Sou'Wester was originally slated for Bristol but circumstances forced the organisers to relocate the 1994 Eastercon to the not-very-south-western Liverpool.

More recently the city has been home to the Bristol Fantasy and SF Society and since 2009 has hosted Bristol-Con. Corflu 38 was held in Bristol in 2021.

Other clubs include University of Bristol Tolkien Society.
