From Fancyclopedia 2, ca. 1959
(Gerding) A mimeograph used, originally, by Manley Bannister to publish The Nekromantikon and donated to TAFF -- or, more correctly, to the WAW With the Crew in '52 -- when the original owner went gafia. It was an electric A. B. Dick. Nan Gerding won it; when she gafiated for a spell in late 1954 she passed it on to Lee Jacobs, and Terry Car got it from Leej some time after he dropped out of fandom. Probably other fan mimeos have equally wandering histories, if we only knew.[1]
From Fancyclopedia 2 Supplement, ca. 1960
"You managed to misspel both of Manly Banister's names!" snorts Redd Boggs scornfully. "Redd understated the case", adds Art Rapp; "you also managed to misspell Terry Carr's name! (A blunder worthy of note since it's probably the only time in fannish history that anyone managed to do that!)"

___

  1. Plenty have, in latter days, though they were nameless. For example, NESFA trucked several venerable Gestetners cross-country to Chicon 6 in 2000 to bestow on Dick and Leah Smith in Chicago; when the Smiths were moving, a dozen years later, they passed them on to Jeff Schalles in Minneapolis; in 2021, Jeff donated them to the Iowa City Press Coop, where, though out of fannish hands, they will go on being useful.
