(???? –)

Owen D. Plumridge was a UK fan from Mitcham in Surrey active in the 1940s and 1950s. He hosted the meeting that led to the formation of the Science Fantasy Society and became its first treasurer.

Plumridge doesn't appear to have been in evidence fannishly speaking before 1948 when he attended the Whitcon. On 26 September 1948 he hosted a meeting convened by Ken Slater and attended by Frank Fears, Vin¢ Clarke, John Newman and Jimmy Clay to thrash out the idea of new national fan organisation. Slater later said 'I can recall the excellent tea Mrs Plumridge gave us with much greater ease than any of the conversation'. A subsequent open meeting of London fans on 9 October resulted in the creation of the Science Fantasy Society. Plumridge became the Society’s treasurer.

He attended the 1949 London convention where he gave a financial report of the SFS 'which showed the Society to be healthily solvent' (Science Fantasy News #3). However, he had to step down at some point before 1951 due to 'pressure of business'. Ken Bulmer, his replacement, said he had 'handled the accounts with commendable skill' (Science Fantasy News v2#1).

Plumridge continued to attend conventions and other events into the early 1950s. He was at the Festivention of 1951 and the International Fantasy Award dinner in 1953.
