AutoClave 4 was scheduled to be held in 1979 at the Book Cadillac in Detroit. The GoHs were Jeanne Gomoll and Dan Steffan. The toastmaster was Ted White.

A few weeks before the convention, chairman Leah Zeldes cancelled it. It was reported that it only had 23 members: there may have been hotel issues, as well.

AutoClave 4 instead happened, with the same guests and toastmaster, July 25-27, 1980.
