Pocket Books produced the first mass-market, pocket-sized paperback books in America in early 1939 and revolutionized the publishing industry.
Its SF/fantasy line included several early classics in the genre, including Hilton's Lost Horizon (1939), Great Tales & Poems of Edgar Allan Poe (1940), Endore's The Werewolf of Paris (1941), Wollheim's The Pocket Book of Science Fiction (1943), Stoker's Dracula (1947), Frank's Mr. Adam (1948), Healy's New Tales of Space & Time (1952), Leinster's Space Platform (1953), Wells' The War of the Worlds (1953), and Clarke's The Sands of Mars (1954).
