Filker and scientist Mitchell Burnside-Clapp received Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics, Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Russian, and a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He found filk in 1975 and is married to fellow filker T. J. Burnside-Clapp.
