Mike Zaharakis was a [[fan]] active mainly in the 1960 and 70s.  He became a fan while stationed in the Air Force in Minot, North Dakota, where he married Dian. In Portland, Oregon, he was a founder of the [[Society of Strangers]] science fiction club. He was a member of [[ValAPA]], [[TAPS]], and the [[N3F]], at one time serving on the N3F Directorate.  He later moved to California, where he died. Mike Zaharakis was also a member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and an ordained bishop in an independent apostolic tradition. In 1970 he handled publicity for the week long, state-sponsored  Vortex-1 music festival in McIver State Park near Escatada, Oregon.
