Marvis Manning

Marvis Royce Manning, an Indiana fan, was a member of the Decker Dillies. He published Pluto with his brother, Vincent Manning,[1] and attended Chicon, the 1940 Worldcon, for which he was on the national advisory board, and the Denvention the following year. He was married to Faye Manning.
Like all the Dillies, the Mannings had gafiated by the end of World War II. However, they turn up again on the membership rolls of Chicon II in 1952.
Marvis had been a pilot before World War II, and joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. Marvis was a pharmacist by trade; he attended Indiana University and the Indiana School of Pharmacy. Marvis also had a farm.

- ↑ Fan sources and contemporary newspaper articles refer to Marvis and Vincent as brothers. However, while at least one photo of the Decker Dillies identifies a man as Vincent Manning, there is no evidence in the public records that Marvis had a brother named Vincent. Marvis' only sibling, his younger brother Ray Dale, died of an illness at 15.
