Martha Wells is a Texas SF/fantasy writer best known for her Murderbot Diaries series. She has published a number of fantasy novels, young adult novels, media tie-ins, short stories, and nonfiction essays on fantasy and SF subjects. Her novels have been translated into eight languages. With Aaron De Orive, she wrote Blade Singer (2014).

She was the chair of AggieCon XVII in 1986.

She was born in Fort Worth, TX, and has a B.A. in Anthropology from Texas A&M University, where she was a member of Cepheid Variable.
