A bid to hold the 1980 Westercon in LA. It beat Phoenix in '80. See 1980 Westercon Site Selection.
The bid had planned to use the LA Marriott, the site of Westercone, again, but just before the vote discovered that Doug Wright had signed a 3-year contract with the Marriott which included the 4th of July weekend. They moved next door to the Hyatt.
