From Fancyclopedia 2, ca. 1959
Several fans have managed to keep up their activity thru a hitch in the service, and some (Rapp, Sanderson, Buckmaster, Riddle) are professionals. In the APAs, OEs have a tradition of leniency in enforcing activity requirements in such cases.

The fanspeak term armynian means "of the Army," and probably arose during World War II.

See War, Dogfan.
