Westercon 23 won and was held in Santa Barbara, CA. The bidders listed in the FUNcon Business meeting agenda were Berkeley 1970 (Alva Rogers, Bill Donaho, J. Ben Stark) and an Los Angeles in 1970 bid for the Alexandria Hotel run by Ted Johnstone.

The eventual convention was held in Santa Barbara, CA by Bjo and John Trimble.
