Awarded September 1, 1958 by Solacon. Another year, another change of categories! The Solacon committee chose to award a variety of categories, some old. One of the new ones -- Best Dramatic Presentation -- promptly became traditional. One of their odder decisions was to be the second (and last) Worldcon committee to not award a Best Fanzine Hugo. Again there was no shortlist of nominations but there was a vote of the membership to select the winners. (See Early Hugo voting.)
