A fan of the Great Detective, Sherlock Holmes, a late 19th and early 20th century Briton whose work was immortalized through the writings of his friend, Dr. John H. Watson. Many fans (being slans) are also Sherlockians.
It is likely that the great success of Star Trek was due to the creation of Mr. Spock, a fictional character based on Holmes.
