The Stoke-on-Trent SF Society was founded in December 1976 by Chris Hall who became its first chairman. Over 30 people attended its inaugural meeting, with membership stablising at about 13 regulars including Dave Rowley and Bill Little. The group met on the first Tuesday of every month at the WFA, Cartwright House, Hanley, had its own library and internal newsletter, the SoTSFS Newsletter. It was sercon in orientation with talks by visiting pros and regular SF discussion sessions.

The Society was profiled in Matrix #17 (April 1978).

It is unrelated to the earlier Stoke-on-Trent Science Fiction Club except by geography.

Club 1976
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
