Reading is a town in England, about 40 miles west of London.
John Brunner lived in the area in the 1950s; Dave Langford, and thus Ansible, since the 1970s.
A Reading University Science Fiction Club was founded around 1974 by Keith Freeman and Chris Fowler.
In the 1980s and early 1990s Freeman organised collations of BSFA publications at the University.
Since the 1990s it has been home to the Reading Science Fiction Group.
