(June 24th, 1948 - May 21st, 2020)

Dave Szurek was a comics, monster movie and sf fan from Detroit who published the fanzines Weird City and Weirdness Before Midnight. ISFDB credits him with published poems and one letter published in The Geis Letter. A search of Fanac.org retrieves many more references to fanzine appearances. A memorial tribute includes messages from several long time fannish correspondents.

On May 24th, 1964 he and fellow Detroit fan Robert Brosch held a comics convention at Hotel Tuller that attracted about 80 fans. The Detroit Triple Fan Fair began in 1965.
