Note that the Fancy 2 entry header Simplifyd Spelng to "legalength", and there was no entry for foolscap as such (somewhat confusingly, that has two definitions: beside "British foolscap" 8 × 13 inches "for writing", there is also a half inch larger "Imperial foolscap" for printing – but presumably only the former was commonly available for duplicators?), instead the matter was dealt with in Format and Standard Size; see also longer explanation at Regalength.

From Fancyclopedia 2, ca. 1959
LEGALENGTH   A paper size, 8½ x 14. The US equivalent of foolscap.

8 1/2 × 14 inches translates to 216 × 356 milimeters, aspect ratio 1.65.
