Alan Mackie was a fan from Glasgow, Scotland, in the 1950s. He was a member of the New Lands SF Club and printed the first issue of Haemogoblin, then a clubzine. According to Fred Smith he, “swore off printing after the eight weeks of solid labour it cost him.”

In a profile in Contact 8 (February 1957) Ethel Lindsay said he:

is interested in writing. The guy is a real hard worker too, for he was the one who printed Haemogoblin. Every letter had to be set by hand and it took him ages. Since then the printing machine has been sitting gathering dust in David’s garage.

The New Lands SF Club folded in 1957 but some members including Mackie still saw one another occasionally.
