Chi-Fi
Chi-Fi was a media convention held in Chicago. Its concept was to offer a larger exposure to media fandom in a fan-run setting within the city limits, which had only hosted Worldcons and gate shows for several decades. (Most area cons were held in the suburbs.)
Chi-Fi 1 was slated for the weekend of March 27–30, 2014. On January 14, 2014, the committee announced it would not take place because a senior hotel staffer referred to the con attendees as "Freaks" and the hotel refused to support the con's harassment policy, although the hotel denied those charges and stated that the con had requested to be let out of their contract and the parties determined it was mutually beneficial to do so.
Chi-Fi held a one-day event on March 29 at the Palmer House and a second event on March 19–22, 2015, which was not very successful.
Amazing Stories conrep on them both.
