Live Oak is a small city in the Florida Panhandle, east of Tallahassee. It was home in the 1940s to the young fans Raym Washington and his sister, Mary Helen Washington, who became known because of Claude Degler and his Cosmic Circle, with whom they held the Live Oak Conference there in 1943.
