Billy Ray Wolfenbarger, a fan, pro, speculative poet and essayist mainly active in the 1970s–90s, contributed to such fanzines as Nyctalops, Fantasy Macabre, Outworlds and Xenolith.

His science fiction poetry began appearing in 1965 with “Child of Wilderness” and “Thru Tulsa.” His story “Smiling Sam” was published in 1972, and he continued to publish short fiction for 20 years.

William Breiding published Language at Midnight, a collection of Wolfenbarger’s Outworlds columns and other materials, in 2020.

A native of Missouri, Billy lived in Oregon at the time of his death.
