An American pro fantasy writer with a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from Yale. Her first published story was in 1985 and her first novel in 1989. She is probably best known as a novelist. Her more than twenty novels range form straight fantasy to historical novels with just the faintest touch of fantasy. She lives in Arizona and breeds Lipizzan horses.
