SF critic Dave Truesdale is the Kansas City-based founder and managing editor of the Hugo-nominated Tangent, an online reviewzine concentrating on short fiction. He is known for often controversial opinions.

Truesdale served a stint as editor of the SFWA Bulletin and was a columnist for F&SF.

He created his sercon fanzine in 1975, shortly after getting into fandom while living in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and continued it through 1977. In 1993, Truesdale relaunched Tangent with the aim of reviewing every piece of original short fiction in prozines, original collections, and single-author anthologies. He moved it online in 1997.
