(January 23, 1901 - February 3, 1963)
Burton Crane joined the mundane ajay NAPA in 1912, and that led him to fandom. While he was somewhat of a fringe fan, he was a member of FAPA from 1946–52. He co-edited Unspeakable Thing with Helen Wesson when they were both in Asia. He was also involved with the N3F, developing a proposed constitution in 1946.
In civilian life, he was a financial reporter for the New York Times and was later in charge of its Tokyo office. (While he was in Tokyo, he was popular there as a recording artist specializing in popular tunes.) Born in Buffalo, NY, the son of a Presbyterian minister, he graduated from Princeton University in 1922.
