James Patrick Kelly is a SF author who sold his first story in 1975.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1972, with a B.A. in English Literature.

He is a friend of SF author John Kessel, and they have collaborated on several stories.

Kelly has served on the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts since 1998 and chaired the council in 2004. At present he is on the Popular Fiction faculty at the University of Southern Maine.

His short fiction has been collected in Think Like a Dinosaur and Other Stories (1990) and Strange But Not a Stranger (2002).
