(1908 -- 1981)

Biology professor Compton N. Crook began writing SF in the 1950s under the penname Stephen Tall.

Tall is known primarily today for his Stardust series of stories.

Awards, Honors and GoHships:

The Compton Crook Award for best first SF novel in the field of science fiction, fantasy, or horror was established in 1983 and is presented annually by the members of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society.
