Anne Rice (nee O'Brien) is an American author of gothic fiction and erotica.
She is perhaps best known for her popular and influential series of novels, The Vampire Chronicles, revolving around the central character of Lestat.
Books from The Vampire Chronicles were the subject of two film adaptations, in 1994 and in 2002.
She has used the pen names of Anne Rampling and A. N. Roquelaine.
At one time she studied with fellow SF author Ray Nelson.
