The 51st anniversary of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of American (SFWA) was held the Palmer House in Chicago from May 12-15, 2016. The weekend was chaired by Steven H Silver.
The weekend included numerous panels and receptions each evening, including a mass autographing session that was open to the public.
The Nebula Awards were presented at a banquet on May 14, with actor John Hodgman as toastmaster. Hodgman was accompanied to the stage by a Klingon and a Mandalorian. Science fiction author Henry Lien opened the awards ceremony with a performance of a song he wrote, "Radio SFWA" with other authors as backup dancers.
