The eighth of Melbourne's Continuum conventions and 51st Australian Natcon, Continuum 8: Craftonomicon, was held at the Rydges on Swanston hotel over the Queen's Birthday long weekend 8-11 June 2012. Kelly Link and Alison Goodman were Guests of Honour. Sue Ann Barber was Fan GoH. Lucy Sussex was a Special Invited Guest, thanks to Ticonderoga Publications.
Most of the events that had been scheduled to be held in the Lincoln Room were actually held in the Argyle Room and vice versa, the Lincoln Room being found to be larger than the Argyle Room when the two were divided.
The sixtieth anniversary of the Melbourne Science Fiction Club (MSFC) was celebrated.
A new award, the Infinity Award, was presented to MSFC life member Merv Binns, and it was announced that he would never again need to pay to attend a Continuum convention.
The awards ceremony was particularly memorable due to the use of plastic octopuses as stand-ins for Ditmar Award trophies, which had not been received by mail in time for the ceremony.
In the closing ceremony the Continuum chair, Emilly McLeay, thanked among others "the NAFF delegate, Sarah Parker, and the DUFF delegate, Hold Over Funds. You've both done everything we asked of you ..."
