Equicon '73 was a regional which had added enough Start Trek programming that it was becoming a Star Trek convention. It was held April 20-22, 1973 at the International Hotel in Los Angeles. The GoH was Theodore Sturgeon.

It was chaired by William Tuning and Clyde Johnson. Randall Garrett was Toastmaster. It had been originally announced for the Francisco Torres Conference Center in Santa Barbara.

Attendance was estimated to be 8000.
