Bill Jesson was a fan from Manchester, UK active in the 1950s. He attended Festivention and the NECON in 1951 and was on the committee of Mancon in 1952, acting as secretary. At the latter, he appeared as 'the mysterious visitor' during a game of charades, 'attired in a suit "Man from Planet X" style'[1].

The Mancon programme included an item '"Exposé"[2] by Sid Klepper and Bill Jesson' at 6pm. The convention does seem over-programmed and some items were dropped, including this one, so we'll likely never know what they had in mind although whatever it was it was only going to take 10 minutes. It is possible, however, that it is an allusion to Jesson's 'Man from Planet X' appearance which Sandy Sanderson thought 'rather amusing'[3] and the Liverpool Group considered that 'after the great publicity and build-up before the con [it] came as something of an anti-climax'[4].
