Archibald Montgomery Low, a UK engineer and research physicist, self-styled 'Professor' as he held no university chair, worked in many fields, often on guidance systems and rocketry. His lack of focus meant he rarely saw projects to completion.
He wrote popular science books and four SF novels and was a frequent attendee at early conventions. He was an honorary member of the Science Fiction Association (SFA), appointed in June 1937, and spoke at the Second British Convention where he was elected SFA president.
