Russell Albert Leadabrand, an early California fan, published the printed fanzine Unique Tales in the late 1930s. He was a member of the LASFL. He seems to have gafiated by 1940.

Born in Illinois, he grew up in Pasadena and Dinuba, CA. He attended Columbia University, the University of New Mexico and USC. Leadabrand became travel editor and a daily columnist for the Pasadena Star News, posts he held until he retired in 1971. He also wrote travel features for magazines and guidebooks about the West.
