Cheryl A. Evry, a Maryland fan, was part of the FanTek club, founded in 1981 by her husband, Bruce Evry. For over 20 years, the Evrys hosted EveCon and CastleCon in the Washington, DC area.

Bruce suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in October 2015 and Cheryl cared for him till his death, reporting regularly to friends via Caring Bridge. She is a Polar Ground System Engineer at NOAA.
