James Webbert got into fandom at NorWesCon, the 1950 Worldcon in Portland, OR. He and his wife, Doreen Webbert, were jointly OE of SAPS.

He was the art auctioneer for most of the LepreCons, doing his best to squeeze every last cent out of the bidders. He has also auctioned at CopperCon, World Horror Con, Fantasy Con and several of the charity auctions at various conventions. He has been at all but one or two LepreCons starting with the first.
