The first in a series of slan shacks inhabited by Jack Harness and Owen Hannifen. Like the other slan shacks in the Labyrinth series, this one had a long, narrow hallway that connected the common area (living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom) with the bedroom. But the Labyrinth's hallway went partway back, then bent to one side, then continued to the rear bedroom, making the apartment's layout particularly confusing.
After the Labyrinth, Harness and Hannifen moved to Labyrinth 3. The jump in number was an homage to the Skylark series by Doc Smith: Skylark of Space, Skylark 3, Skylark of Valeron, Skylark Duquesne.
