Balticon 42 was a convention held Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2008 at the Marriott's Hunt Valley in Hunt Valley, MD. The GoHs were Connie Willis, John Jude Palencar & Urban Tapestry. Douglas Adams was Ghost of Honor.

The chairman was Greg Wright.

Mark L. Van Name won the Compton Crook Award for One Jump Ahead. The previous year's winner was Naomi Novik.
