Stone Hill SF Association, founded in 1979, is the largest SF club in the Tampa Bay area and one of the major clubs in the state of Florida. They meet monthly and have organized Necronomicon annually since 1982.
(It is named for Stone Hill near Tampa Town, the site of the great cannon in Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon.)
Its first foray into convention running was UniversiCon, which it ran jointly with another club in early 1982. The other club "stiffed us for a guest" and Stone Hill decided to strike out on its own and launched Necronomicon.
